Grissini

Grissini or breadsticks are long, thin and crispy pieces of dry bread originated in Turin, Italy and generally are served as an appetizer or snack.

(Makes 22-25 breadsticks)

Ingredients:

250 gram flour

7 gram dry yeast

1/2 teaspoon sugar

150 ml lukewarm water

1/2 teaspoon salt

2 tablespoon olive oil

Freshly ground black pepper

Sesame seeds

Method:

Combine water, sugar and yeast, leave to stand for 5-10 minutes.

In large mixing bowl mix flour, salt; make a well in the centre and stir in the yeast mixture and oil. Mix everything until it forms a dough.

Knead for 5 minutes then cover with cling film and leave to rest for 15 minutes.

Preheat oven to 205 degrees C. Line large baking tray with parchment paper.

Transfer dough to floured surface then divide into 22-25 pieces. Roll each peace into thin pencil size stick. Cover with black pepper and sesame seeds; bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown. Enjoy!

  1. Perfect snacks! I love to have such things in the morning for a quick breakfast before leaving for work. Using black pepper is what makes this recipe different from classic grisini recipes. I really wonder how it will be. Must try it soon.
