Cauliflower and Broccoli Gratin with Camembert Cheese

Gratin is originated from French cooking and means dish covered in breadcrumbs, grated cheese, egg or butter and then browned in an oven. Gratin generally prepared in a shallow dish and traditionally served in its baking dish.

The beauty of this dish is you can make it beforehand as gratin freezes well. Just defrost when you need, top with cheese and/or breadcrumbs, and bake.

(Serves 4)

Ingredients:

200 gram broccoli

200 gram cauliflower

30 gram butter

3 tablespoons of flour

250 ml milk

50 gram Camembert cheese cut in cubes plus extra to put on top

50 gram breadcrumbs

Salt, pepper to taste

Method:

Preheat oven to 180 degrees C.

Parboil broccoli and cauliflower just until tender, about 10-15 minutes.

Heat up saucepan and melt butter; stir in flour then milk; add cheese and stir until all melted; season with salt and pepper.

Combine sauce with veggies and transfer to a baking dish; top with extra cheese and breadcrumbs.

Bake for 20 minutes or until browned on top.
