Southern Biscuits with Cheddar Cheese



These are tasty and easy to make Southern biscuits. Very tender and moist- melts in your mouth and leaving you wanting more.


(Makes about 8 biscuits)

Ingredients:

250 gram flour

2 teaspoons baking powder

½ teaspoon salt

¼ teaspoon baking soda

4 tablespoons of vegetable shortening, chilled and cut into cubes

2-3 tablespoons of butter, chilled and cut into cubes

125 ml buttermilk

50 grams of sharp cheddar cheese

Method:

Preheat oven to 220 degrees C.

In a large mixing bowl combine flour, baking powder, salt, baking soda.

With your fingertips rub shortening and butter to the flour mix until well combined. Then gradually stir in buttermilk.

Spoon 8 balls of the dough to the baking sheet. Sprinkle with cheese on top.

Bake for about 20 minutes or until lightly brown on top.
